The Hawai‘i Institute of Marine Biology in the University of Hawai‘i School of Ocean & Earth Science & Technology invites applications for a full-time, 11-mos, non-tenure track faculty position in Fisheries Science-Marine Biology with an emphasis on Marine Population Dynamics and Stock Assessment. We are seeking a faculty member whose research focuses on population dynamic modeling and stock assessment with complementary expertise in management strategy evaluation, climate effects, ecosystem and food web modeling, or dynamic spatial modeling. This appointment builds upon a long-standing collaboration between the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and NOAA Fisheries, and the successful candidate is expected to work closely with the NOAA Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center. The successful candidate will train future practitioners in the science of population assessment and develop innovative approaches to the assessment of management strategies, environmental variability, food web linkages, or spatial heterogeneity. The incumbent will teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in fisheries science and advise graduate trainees in the science of stock assessment.
This position will be filled at the Assistant Professor level. The position includes salary for 3 years (with extension to 5 years or more dependent on the availability of funding), start-up funds, travel funds, and support for graduate trainees. A Ph.D. degree is required, post-doctoral training is preferred, and the successful candidate should have evidence of excellence in research and teaching.
