Abstract

A number of information sources were used to estimate parameters for the Ecopath models of the Strait of Georgia ecosystem (B.C. Canada) at present and one hundred years ago. The present day model was developed using primarily quantitative data from publishing sources. The data used to create the model of the ecosystem as it might have been one hundred years ago required a variety of sources which provided both quantitative and qualitative information. This paper critically reviews the sources used to construct the models.
