Abstract

A mass-balance trophic flow model of the Ubatuba shelf ecosystem in summer (1985) was built with ten compartments, each representing organisms with a similar role in the food web plus one box for detritus. Wet mass (t/km super(2)) was used as unit of standing stock, and one quarter as unit of time. The model helps to broaden understanding of the system's structure and organization.
