An update of previous estimates of the production by the pelagic fish and invertebrate populations of Lake Tanganyika (Burundi sector) of Africa, is presented, along with a revised quantification of their trophic interactions. Two models are provided, pertaining to the periods 1974-1976 (high biomasses) and the 1980-1983 (low biomasses). Some implications for research on the living resources of Lake Tanganyika are also presented.
